2 FIFA leaders get life bans for misuse of funds

FIFA's judicial body has imposed lifetime bans on two former regional football federation presidents for financial misconduct. Vincent Cassell, long-time president of the Montserrat football federation, was banned for abuse of position, conflicts of interest, and misuse of funds, and had previously pleaded guilty to tax evasion in April. Bassam Adeel Jaleel, former president of the Maldives football federation, received a life ban for misusing FIFA's COVID-19 Relief Plan funds for personal benefit, with Maldives media reporting he was sentenced to 23 years in prison for embezzling $1.2 million intended for local football clubs.
