2026 Commonwealth Games: Thomas Young and Sophie Hahn win England's first athletics golds

Sprinters Thomas Young and Sophie Hahn won gold medals for England on the opening night of athletics at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, both claiming victory in the men's and women's 100m T38 finals respectively. Young, who missed the 2022 Games through injury, won on his 26th birthday, setting a season's best and Games record time of 11.11 seconds. These were England's first athletics gold medals of the Games.
