2026 European Athletics Championships: Hungary’s Boglárka Takács tops women’s 200m qualifying times for semi-final spot

Hungary's Boglárka Takács posted the fastest qualifying time of 22.84 seconds in the women's 200m first round at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on August 12, becoming the only athlete to break the 23-second barrier in the heats. European U23 champion Dalia Kaddari also clocked a season's best to advance alongside Takács, who had previously been eliminated in the 100m semi-finals on August 10. The women's 200m semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday evening, with Ireland's Lauren Roy and Greece's Polyniki Emmanouilidou also progressing.
