2x Ballon d'Or winner Putellas joins London City

Two-time Ballon d'Or winner and Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas has joined Women's Super League club London City Lionesses after her contract at Barcelona expired. During her 14 years at Barcelona, Putellas scored 232 goals in over 500 appearances, won Liga F 10 times, and claimed four Women's Champions League titles, lifting 38 trophies in total. Putellas also won the 2023 World Cup with Spain, and chose London City over NWSL offers partly to remain in Europe and avoid regularly competing against her former club.
