5 takeaways: College players rule 1st round of 2026 NBA Draft
The 2026 NBA Draft first round was held Tuesday at Barclays Center in New York, with BYU's AJ Dybantsa going No. 1 to the Washington Wizards, followed by Kansas' Darryn Peterson (No. 2, Utah Jazz), Duke's Cameron Boozer (No. 3, Memphis Grizzlies), North Carolina's Caleb Wilson (No. 4, Chicago Bulls), and Illinois' Keaton Wagler (No. 5, Los Angeles Clippers). Nine of the first 10 picks were college freshmen, tying the record set in 2017 and 2025, while the first 20 selections all came from college basketball. It marked the first time since 1994 that the top 20 picks were all college players, in the draft's 80th year.
