7 Weeks to the Tour de France: What the Favorites Are Doing Now to Prepare

With seven weeks until the 2026 Tour de France starting in Barcelona on July 4, the four main favourites — Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepoel, and Paul Seixas — are taking contrasting preparation approaches. Pogačar, who recently won four stages and the overall at the Tour de Romandie, began a three-week altitude training block at Sierra Nevada on May 15, to be followed by Tour de Suisse and a final altitude stint at Isola 2000. Vingegaard is attempting a bold double by racing the Giro d'Italia, Evenepoel is in recovery, and Seixas is largely staying out of the spotlight ahead of the grand départ.
