A Piece Of Heaven won the Chester Cup at 7-1 odds, providing a strong finish to Chester Racecourse's May festival meeting on Friday. The victory came after the festival had been threatened with abandonment on Thursday, when horses slipped in the opening race and jockeys and trainers inspected the damaged turf on the home turn, with around 15,000 spectators present for Ladies' Day. Repairs to the ground were carried out to save the middle day of the meeting from cancellation.
