“A tennis player, plain and simple” – Federer, undone by his own tears, takes his place in the Hall of Fame

Roger Federer was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Newport on Saturday night. The 20-time Grand Slam champion delivered an emotional speech, repeatedly breaking down in tears while thanking his family, coaches, and the sport itself. Federer was introduced by his wife Mirka, and broadcaster Mary Carillo was also honoured at the same ceremony, inducted by Billie Jean King.
