Aaron Rai runs away with PGA Championship, first English-born winner in more than century
Aaron Rai won the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, closing with a 5-under 65 to finish at 9-under 271, winning by three shots. The 31-year-old Englishman of Indian heritage became the first English-born winner of the Wanamaker Trophy since Jim Barnes in 1919, and the first player of Indian heritage to win a major. Key moments included a 40-foot eagle putt on the ninth hole and a 70-foot birdie putt on the 17th, as rivals including Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
