Abi Tierney: Welsh Rugby Union chief executive on Y11, Ospreys, Cardiff and own future

Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Abi Tierney has confirmed that the proposed deal with Ospreys owners Y11 Sport & Media to purchase Cardiff Rugby has collapsed. The WRU had been seeking to offload Cardiff after rescuing the club from administration in April 2025, and plans to reduce Welsh professional men's teams to three have now been pushed back to 2028. Ospreys and Scarlets have been offered the chance to sign the latest Professional Rugby Agreement (PRA25).
