Adola wins men's Berlin Marathon, Assefa dramatically misses record

Ethiopia's Guye Adola won the men's race at the 52nd BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Compatriot Tigst Assefa won the women's event but narrowly missed breaking the world record of 2 hours 9 minutes 56 seconds set by Ruth Chepng'etich at the 2024 Chicago Marathon. The event drew approximately 60,000 athletes from 160 countries.
