On Day 3 of the African Athletics Championships 2026 in Accra, Ghana (14 May), Botswana's Lee Bhekimpilo Eppie won his first individual continental title in the men's 400 metres, clocking 44.66 seconds. Zimbabwe's Denis Hove took silver in 44.92 and Leeford Zuze bronze in 45.03, while Botswana finished the day with five medals overall including two gold. Host nation Ghana also celebrated their first medals of the championship.
