African Athletics Championships 2026: Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire sweep 4x100m relay events, Kenya's Diana Wanza takes 10,000m gold

At the 2026 African Athletics Championships in Accra on Friday, May 15, Nigeria's women won their fourth consecutive 4x100m relay title, with the quartet of Rosemary Nwankwo, Obi Jennifer Chukwuka, Rosemary Chukwuma and Miracle Ezechukwu clocking 42.94 seconds, ahead of Liberia in 43.03. In the men's 4x100m relay, Côte d'Ivoire claimed their first-ever African Championships gold in the event, finishing in 38.52, with Nigeria taking silver in 38.70 and Ghana bronze in 38.74. Kenya's Diana Wanza also took gold in the 10,000m at the championships.
