After acing World Cup’s group stage, USMNT confronts its kryptonite: Europe
The USMNT enters the World Cup knockout rounds having dominated opponents from four continents, including wins over Paraguay, Australia, Senegal, and Uruguay, but now faces a stark challenge: the team has lost 10 consecutive matches against European sides and holds only one win in 18 attempts against full-strength European teams over the past decade, that being a 2021 victory over Northern Ireland. To advance deep into the tournament, the U.S. may need to defeat up to five consecutive European opponents. Their first test comes on Wednesday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where they face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
