After hit-by-pitch scare, Ohtani both hitting and pitching tonight

Shohei Ohtani will both pitch and hit for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Wednesday night's series finale against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium on May 27, 2026, despite being removed from Tuesday's 15-6 win as a precaution after taking an 85.2 mph changeup off his pitching hand. The ball largely struck the padding but grazed his pinky finger, and no imaging was done. Ohtani carries a 0.73 ERA, the best among Major Leaguers with at least 30 innings pitched this season, and will face Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano in the 21st ever matchup between Japanese-born starting pitchers in MLB history.
