Alcaraz (wrist) won't defend French Open title

Two-time defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 2 in the world, announced on Friday that he will not defend his title at Roland Garros due to a right wrist injury sustained at the Barcelona Open earlier this month. He will also skip the preceding Italian Open in Rome, where he was also the reigning champion. Alcaraz had already withdrawn from the Madrid Open and attended the Laureus World Sports Awards — where he was named world sportsman of the year — with his wrist immobilized, before further medical tests confirmed he would miss Paris.
