Algeria complains to FIFA over refereeing, Lionel Messi foul in Argentina game

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has filed a formal complaint with FIFA over refereeing decisions during their 3-0 opening World Cup defeat against Argentina. The complaint centers on a 30th-minute tackle by Lionel Messi on Algeria captain Aissa Mandi, where Messi caught the player on his right calf and Achilles tendon with studs up but was not shown a card by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak. Algeria also raised concerns about two additional incidents involving elbow challenges on players Hadj Moussa and Ibrahim Maza, while Messi went on to complete a hat-trick in the match.
