Sweden's Andreas Almgren won the world half marathon title at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen on September 20, 2026, setting a European record of 58:06 — improving his own previous record by 35 seconds and moving to ninth on the world all-time list. He outsprinted Kenya's Nicholas Kipkorir in the final stretch to win by five seconds. Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei took bronze in a personal best of 58:26, while Ethiopia's Tadese Worku finished fourth in a PB of 58:35.
