'And then I lost her'. Sophie Raworth on the drama and joy of running her daughter's first marathon

BBC presenter Sophie Raworth ran the 2026 TCS London Marathon alongside her 21-year-old daughter Ella, who was competing in her first marathon. Raworth, returning to the London Marathon after pulling out injured at mile 20 in 2024, aimed to finish well under four hours to secure a Good For Age entry for the following year. The pair were joined at the start by Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller, 33, whose longest training run had been a half marathon three weeks prior due to injury.
