Andrade “Feels Bad” for Chatfield, Young Players on PGA Tour
Rhode Island golf veteran Billy Andrade expressed sympathy for rookie PGA Tour player Davis Chatfield, citing the modern era of signature events as a major obstacle for young players trying to advance. Chatfield, a former RI Amateur champion, has played 20 events in his rookie season, making eight cuts, and sits at one-under par in a tie for 73rd after round one of the Wyndham Championship, the final regular season event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Andrade praised Chatfield as a tenacious and straight hitter, averaging 283.9 yards off the tee, but noted that the current distance-focused game puts players like him at a disadvantage.
