Andreeva comes of age with French Open triumph over qualifier Chwalinska

Mirra Andreeva, the 19-year-old Russian, claimed her first Grand Slam title at the French Open by defeating qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in the final. Chwalinska, ranked world No. 114, had made a historic run as a qualifier but was unable to replicate Emma Raducanu's 2021 US Open feat of winning a slam as a qualifier. Andreeva overcame a tense start and difficult windy conditions to win comfortably in straight sets.
