Angel Genao becomes first Cleveland player with 4 hits in major league debut

Angel Genao, a 22-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic, made history on Wednesday night by going 4-for-5 with four singles and an RBI in his major league debut for the Cleveland Guardians, becoming the first player in the franchise's 125-year history to record at least four hits in an initial game. Despite Genao driving in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to give Cleveland a 5-4 lead, the New York Mets rallied to win 6-5 in 10 innings on Bo Bichette's RBI. Genao is the 22nd player since 1900 and the second in 2025 to achieve four hits in a debut, joining Detroit's Kevin McGonigle who accomplished the feat on March 26.
