Arizona State places head coach Greg Powers on leave

Arizona State placed head coach Greg Powers on paid administrative leave on Wednesday, approximately 42 days after defenseman Matthew Mayich collapsed during an outdoor team workout. Mayich remains hospitalized with no chance of meaningful recovery, according to his family's attorney. The team is set to open its season Friday at Lindenwood, with assistant coach Mike Corbett expected to take on a larger role in the interim.
