Armando Resendiz eyes Canelo with Jaime Munguia on deck

Armando 'Toro' Resendiz (16-2), the WBA super middleweight champion, will defend his title against Jaime Munguia (45-2) on May 2 as the co-main event of a Cinco de Mayo card also featuring David Benavidez vs. Gilberto Ramirez. Resendiz, 27, claimed the WBA title earlier this year following Terence Crawford's retirement, having previously scored a decisive win over former champion Caleb Plant last May. The Mexican fighter views the Munguia bout as a stepping stone toward eventually securing a fight with Canelo Alvarez.
