Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026: Wang Xiyu wins sixth straight women's singles gold for China to gain "confidence" and LA28 quota

Wang Xiyu won the women's singles tennis gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on October 2, defeating compatriot Zhang Shuai 6-2, 6-1 in just 66 minutes in an all-Chinese final. The victory secured China's sixth consecutive Asian Games women's singles gold and earned Wang a provisional Olympic quota for the LA28 Games, provided she remains in the top 500 world rankings. Wang, a Paris 2024 Olympian who reached the third round before losing to Iga Swiatek, said the win gave her both glory and confidence heading into upcoming tour events.
