Athletics: Alison dos Santos breaks 400m hurdles world record with 45.80 at 2026 Diamond League Weltklasse Zürich

Brazilian athlete Alison dos Santos broke the men's 400m hurdles world record at the 2026 Diamond League Weltklasse Zürich on August 27, clocking 45.80 seconds at the Letzigrund stadium to beat Karsten Warholm's five-year-old mark of 45.94 by 0.14 seconds. Dos Santos, the 2022 world champion, also improved his personal best by 0.49 seconds from 46.29, while Warholm finished second in 46.69. Warholm had set the previous record winning Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020, a race in which dos Santos took bronze.
