Athletics: Josh Kerr targets 1500m world record after Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow

British middle-distance runner Josh Kerr has announced his intention to target the 1500m world record after winning the men's mile at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Kerr, who already holds the mile world record, does not expect to make a serious attempt on the 1500m mark until the middle of the 2027 season. He also identified Olympic gold at Los Angeles 2028 as the remaining major goal in his career.
