ATHLETICS: Kenya’s Kipruto (2:01:09) and Ethiopia’s Feysa (2:13:33) run away with fast Chicago Marathon titles

Kenya's Amos Kipruto won the 48th Chicago Marathon in a time of 2:01:09, while Ethiopia's Feysa claimed the women's title in 2:13:33 under favorable weather conditions with temperatures in the higher 50s. The men's race featured a competitive lead pack of six runners including defending champion Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda, with the group remaining together through 15 km before the race began to break apart after 25 km. Kipruto ultimately prevailed despite Kiplimo leading much of the early stages of the race.
