Athletics place Nick Kurtz, Jeffrey Springs on injured list

The Oakland Athletics placed first baseman Nick Kurtz on the 10-day injured list with a strained right thumb and left-hander Jeffrey Springs on the 15-day IL with right hip discomfort. Kurtz, the 2025 AL Rookie of the Year candidate batting .256 with 21 home runs and 69 RBIs in 99 games, is on the IL for the second time this season due to the same thumb injury. Springs, who holds the majors' longest losing streak this year, carries a 3-11 record with a 6.17 ERA across 22 starts.
