Atlético Madrid agree £34.1m deal for Tottenham’s Cristian Romero

Tottenham have agreed a £34.1m (€40m) deal to sell captain Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid. The Argentine centre-back was given permission to leave Spurs this summer following a troubled 2024-25 campaign in which he received four separate suspensions. Inter Milan had initially been frontrunners for his signature, but talks stalled, allowing Diego Simeone's Atlético to complete the deal.
