Aussies under pressure to reopen sandpapergate probe: Calls for Usman Khawaja's explosive cheating claims to be investigated as captain Pat Cummins remains silent and former coach Darren Lehmann issues denial

Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has made explosive cheating claims related to the 2018 'sandpapergate' ball-tampering scandal that occurred during the Cape Town Test, prompting calls for a reopened investigation. A joint statement issued in 2021 by four key figures denied prior knowledge of the incident, but Khawaja's allegations have renewed scrutiny of that denial. Australian captain Pat Cummins has remained silent on the matter, while former coach Darren Lehmann has issued a denial in response to the claims.
