Australia Announces Itself at the Paris Diamond League
At the 2026 Meeting de Paris Diamond League on June 28, 20-year-old Cameron Myers won the men's 1500m in 3:28.00, setting a new Australian and Oceanian record, a 2026 world lead, and the 12th fastest time ever run over the distance. Myers dominated the race from the front, winning by 1.80 seconds over runner-up Azeddine Habz (3:29.80), with 2022 world champion Jake Wightman finishing third in 3:29.95. Fellow Australians Sarah Billings and Jess Hull also performed strongly, with Billings claiming the Australian 800m record on a night that showcased the depth of Australian middle-distance athletics.
