Nadia Battocletti set a new Italian 1500m record of 3:57.54 to win at the GalAthletics Bellinzona Continental Tour Silver meeting on August 30, leading four women under four minutes in the race. The performance caps a remarkable summer for the Italian, who earlier this month completed a rare 5000m/10,000m double at the European Championships in Birmingham — becoming the first athlete to win that combination at back-to-back Europeans — and claimed her first Diamond League victory in Silesia. Battocletti also won world indoor gold in the 3000m in March, making her one of the standout athletes of the 2024 season.
