Belgian GP track breakdown: Spa’s iconic layout blends F1 beauty with danger
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, home to the Belgian Grand Prix, is one of Formula 1's oldest and longest tracks at 7.004 km with 19 corners, and was part of the inaugural 1950 world championship. The circuit has a history of safety concerns that led to its removal from the F1 calendar in the 1970s, returning in a shortened format in 1983, with scrutiny renewed in 2023 following the death of Dutch driver Dilano van 't Hoff in a junior series race. The current lap record of 1:44.701 was set by Sergio Perez in 2024, and the track hosts F1's final doubleheader before the 2025 summer break.
