Betfred to pull out of rugby league sponsorship

Betfred owner Fred Done has announced the company will end all its title sponsorships in rugby league at the conclusion of this season. Betfred first sponsored Super League in 2017 and gradually expanded its involvement to include the Championship, League One, Women's Super League, Challenge Cup, Wheelchair Super League, and England national teams. Done cited rising costs driven by government budget decisions, including wage inflation and tax rises, which also forced the closure of 132 Betfred betting shops, as the reasons behind the withdrawal.
