Big names near top of leaderboard at US Senior Open at Scioto

George McNeill shot a 4-under 66, the low round of the tournament, to take a two-shot lead heading into the July 4 third round of the U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club. The 50-year-old McNeill, making his first U.S. Senior Open appearance, carded five birdies and one bogey to lead defending champion Padraig Harrington by two shots. Stewart Cink, Charlie Wi, and Miguel Angel Jimenez are tied for third at 3-under, while the cut of 4-under reduced the 156-player field to the top 60 and ties.
