Borthwick urges England players to improve discipline at Nations Championship
England head coach Steve Borthwick has called on his players to improve their discipline ahead of a crucial Nations Championship period, after his side received 14 yellow cards and one red card in 2026, contributing to five losses in their last seven Tests. Borthwick is also concerned about differing refereeing interpretations between the domestic Premiership and international rugby, compounded by a mid-season law change banning 'hip-drop' tackles. Experienced prop Ellis Genge described the timing of the law change as 'berserk' but acknowledged England must sharpen their disciplinary record in upcoming autumn fixtures.
