Boston Red Sox fire manager Alex Cora after 10-17 start to season
The Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora on Saturday following a disappointing 10-17 start to the season, despite a 17-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on the same day. Five members of the major-league coaching staff were also let go, including hitting coach Peter Fatse, bench coach Ramón Vázquez, and third-base coach Kyle Hudson, while game-planning coach Jason Varitek was reassigned within the organization. Cora, who led the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018, had seen the team win more than 81 games only once over the previous four seasons.
