Boxing: Teofimo Lopez ordered to fight Jack Catterall next by WBA

The WBA has ordered Teofimo Lopez to defend his super welterweight world title against mandatory challenger Jack Catterall, giving both parties until 22 October to reach a purse agreement. Lopez won the WBA 'super' welterweight title with a points victory over Rolando Romero last month, but had been pushing for a unification fight against WBC champion Ryan Garcia instead. Catterall, 33, previously lost a controversial world title shot in 2022 and became Lopez's mandatory challenger in May.
