Brandon McNulty’s world title gives American cycling a new beginning

Brandon McNulty won the 2026 UCI Road World Championship in Montreal, completing the 273.4km course in six hours and 17 minutes. The 28-year-old American attacked with approximately 30km remaining and held on to finish 13 seconds ahead of Michael Matthews and Mathieu van der Poel. McNulty became the first American cyclist to wear the rainbow jersey since Lance Armstrong in 1993.
