Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft delivered eight strong innings, allowing just five hits and no walks on 80 pitches while striking out four, improving his record to 13-5. Oneil Cruz hit a home run in his return from the injured list, helping the Pirates defeat the Detroit Tigers 4-1 on Tuesday night. The only run Ashcraft surrendered came on a fifth-inning homer by Tigers rookie Brett Callahan.
