Bread and honey for breakfast and 150 miles a week training: secrets of Sawe’s world record
Kenyan runner Sabastian Sawe set a world marathon record of 1 hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds at the London Marathon on Sunday, becoming the first man to run a sub-two-hour marathon in an official race. The 31-year-old achieved the feat in front of an estimated 800,000 spectators, powering home strongly in the second half of the race. His preparation involved training 150 miles per week, wearing the lightest super shoes ever made, and eating a pre-race breakfast of bread and honey.
