British cyclist Finlay Tarling dies aged 19 after accident during eighth stage of Volta a Portugal
British cyclist Finlay Tarling, 19, died on Friday 14 August 2026 after a serious accident during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal road race, a 166.8km route between Melgaço and Fafe in Portugal. Tarling, who rode for Swiss-based NSN Development Team, was reportedly struck by a non-race vehicle during the stage. His team confirmed his passing in a statement, expressing condolences to his parents Michael and Dawn and his brother Josh.
