Bruins Believe Michael DiPietro Is Ready for NHL Opportunity

The Boston Bruins traded goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on July 1 for a fourth-round pick and a minor-league forward, opening up the NHL backup goaltender role for Michael DiPietro. GM Don Sweeney confirmed DiPietro was the primary reason for the trade, citing his outstanding recent AHL performance, including a career-high 26 wins, a 2.05 GAA, and a .927 save percentage in 2024-25, which earned him the Aldege 'Baz' Bastien Trophy. DiPietro subsequently signed a two-year contract with the Bruins carrying a cap hit of $812,500.
