Bryson DeChambeau received a two-shot penalty during the second round of The Open at Royal Birkdale after officials reviewed footage and ruled he had improved his backswing area by flattening long grass. DeChambeau believes the controversial ruling cost him a chance at winning the Claret Jug for the first time. He ultimately finished six shots behind eventual champion Ryan Fox.
