Cadillac Already Has a Working Formula 1 Engine of Its Own Tucked Away in North Carolina
General Motors president Mark Reuss confirmed at the Miami Grand Prix that Cadillac's Formula 1 team has already tested a full turbocharged V-6 engine at its new technical center in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking the first Formula 1 engine run by an American manufacturer on home soil. The team is currently using Ferrari powertrains under a contract running through 2028, which allowed engineers time to develop their own bespoke power unit. GM plans to debut its proprietary engine by 2029, with Reuss stating development is proceeding on schedule.
