Cameron Steel forced to retire with immediate effect
Cameron Steel, a leg-spinning all-rounder, has been forced to retire from professional cricket with immediate effect due to persistent ankle complications. Steel, who joined Surrey in 2021, underwent two surgeries — a Broström repair in February 2025 and a second operation in September 2025 — but was unable to return to the required level despite rehabilitation. During his 74 appearances for Surrey, including 25 First-Class matches, he contributed to three County Championship title wins and was named Graham Kersey Team Man of the Year three consecutive times.
