Canada will be first World Cup host to play game outside its borders
Canada became the first World Cup host nation in history to be forced to play a knockout round game outside its own borders, after losing 2-1 to Switzerland on Wednesday. The defeat means Canada must travel to Los Angeles to face South Africa in the Round of 32, rather than hosting the match in Vancouver. A win or draw against Switzerland would have allowed Canada to remain on home soil for the knockout stages.
