Canadian Open: Iga Swiatek defeats Elena Rybakina to end title drought

Iga Swiatek defeated Elena Rybakina 6-2, 6-3 in the final of the National Bank Open in Toronto, claiming her first title of the season and ending an 11-month wait for a tour victory. Swiatek, seeded seventh, broke Rybakina early in the first set after the world No. 2 committed back-to-back double faults, and continued to dominate as Rybakina struggled with unforced errors throughout. In the men's event in Montreal, Ben Shelton successfully defended his title by beating fellow American Brandon Nakashima.
