Canadiens vs. Sabres Game 7: Key takeaways as Montreal wins instant-classic OT thriller
Alex Newhook scored 11:22 into overtime on Monday night to give the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7, advancing Montreal to the Eastern Conference finals. Phillip Danault and Zachary Bolduc also scored for the Canadiens, who survived two consecutive seven-game series across 14 playoff games in 30 days. Newhook, who also scored the Game 7 winner against Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, became only the second player in NHL history to score multiple series-clinching Game 7 goals in a single postseason, joining Boston's Nathan Horton from 2011.
